Supported Independent Living With Support That Feels Like Home
Moving towards greater independence is a big step, and the right support makes it a confident one. CSA Care Services provides Supported Independent Living for NDIS participants who want to live well in a home where they feel settled, respected and in control.
Independence looks different for everyone. For some people it means cooking their own dinner, for others it means choosing their own routine or getting to a favourite local café on their own terms. Our SIL homes are set up to support those everyday wins, with staff who encourage choice, protect privacy and celebrate progress at a pace that suits each participant.
What Is Supported Independent Living?
SIL is NDIS funding for daily support in a shared home, helping participants build skills and live as independently as possible. Our support workers assist with personal care, meals and household routines, and the level of help is shaped around each person’s goals rather than a fixed roster.
Who Is SIL Suitable For?
SIL suits participants with higher support needs who want to live outside the family home, whether it is a first move or a better fit than their current arrangement. It must be included in your NDIS plan, and eligibility depends on your individual needs and goals. We can help you prepare for your planning meeting.
What Does Our SIL Support Include?
Every participant’s routine looks different, but our support commonly covers:
- Personal care and everyday living assistance
- Meal planning, cooking and household tasks
- Medication prompts and health appointments
- Building skills such as budgeting and travel confidence
- Community access and social connection
- Overnight support where it is needed
How Do We Match Housemates and Homes?
Compatibility shapes how a home feels day to day. Before suggesting a vacancy, we consider routines, interests, communication styles and support needs, and we encourage meet-and-greets so participants can have a real say in who they share a home with.
What Does SIL Funding Not Cover?
SIL funds the support provided in the home, not rent, groceries or utilities, which participants contribute to separately. Accommodation arrangements, including Specialist Disability Accommodation, are a different funding type. We explain these costs clearly from the start so there are no surprises.
How CSA Care Services Make a Difference
Every participant deserves a home that feels personal, safe and supported. Here is what sets our approach apart:
- Consistent Support Workers: Participants build trust with a familiar team who learn their preferences, routines and communication style.
- Goal-Focused Care: Support is tied to your NDIS goals and reviewed regularly, so it adapts as skills and confidence grow.
- Respect for Choice: Participants have a genuine say in daily decisions, from meals and activities to how their space is arranged.
- Open Communication: Families, guardians and plan managers receive clear, timely updates without having to chase them.
- Transparent Arrangements: We explain what SIL funding covers and what it does not, so costs are never a surprise.
- Community Connection: We help participants stay involved with the people, places and interests that matter to them.
